The National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Site: Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Research for Societal Advancement is now recruiting undergraduates for the paid, nine-week, summer research experience at The University of Texas at Austin. Students receive training using national CI and conduct cutting-edge research in preparation for graduate programs and the workforce.
Experience At-a-Glance
The experience at a world-class supercomputing center includes: training and research in advanced computing – data, high performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence, machine learning, visualization, and analytics; mentoring by researchers at UT and the Texas Advanced Computing Center; professional development workshops on graduate school and research communication; social and team-building activities; and poster presentation, final paper, and publication opportunities
Duration: May 30, 2026 – August 1, 2026
Application Deadline:April 1, 2026
Selected REU participants will receive: Stipend:a $6,300 stipend, Housing at The University of Texas at Austin, and Travel and Meals.
Who should apply? Enrolled undergraduate students interested in high performance computing, computer science, data science, math, science, engineering, visualization, artificial intelligence, machine learning, biology, social sciences, data intensive computing, cyberinfrastructure, and societal advancement.
Requirements
Who is Eligible? Applicants must be enrolled as an undergraduate student in good standing and plan to complete an undergraduate degree program at a U.S. college or university; be at least 18 at the start of the program; be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. Contingent on funding, this site may sponsor one additional participant who does not meet this criterion with non-REU funds.
