Description

Join AWIS on June 16 at 1:00pm ET for our webinar: The ABCs of STEM Success: Hooded and Beyond.

Dr. Malika Grayson, author of Hooded: A Black Girl's Guide to the PhD, will share her journey of surviving and thriving as a doctoral candidate in STEM … and beyond. She is only the second Black woman and first Caribbean American woman to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.

Hear about the obstacles she encountered along the way and how she overcame them including:

  • Coping with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD)
  • Drivers of Imposter Syndrome and how to cancel it
  • The loss of her academic advisor and how she adapted
  • Tips for transitioning from academia to industry
  • Being resilient as a women in a male dominated space

You don’t have to be a PhD candidate or a woman of color to relate to these concepts! Allies will walk away with a better understanding of how to support their colleagues.

SACNAS members can register FREE using code AWISPARTNER

We hope to see you there!
